These knee straps come with brass replicas of Nordic buckles of late 17th-century and early 18th-century design. These were and still are the best way to keep those knee socks from sliding down. Knee straps were used by both the military and civilians alike, all over Europe. The rectangular buckle was used by the Nordic military during this time period. Whereas, the plain oval buckle was used by both the military and civilians. However, the more decorated oval buckle is of a civilian design.
